Larsen & Toubro signs MoU with ACWA Power for Yanbu Green Ammonia project in Saudi Arabia

Larsen & Toubro’s Renewables (RENU) division has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ACWA Power to collaborate on the Renewables and Grid scope of the Yanbu Green Ammonia Project in Saudi Arabia, reports Zawya.

The Yanbu Green Hydrogen Hub is planned as a fully integrated facility with captive renewable electricity generation, powered entirely by solar and wind. The Renewables & Grid scope includes multiple installations such as Solar PV, wind farms, battery energy storage systems, substations, and transmission lines.

Under the MoU, Larsen & Toubro will work with ACWA Power to design the optimal configuration and achieve performance targets for the project. Once the final proposal is approved, L&T is committed to entering into an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract, according to a company statement.

The partnership leverages L&T’s EPC expertise to integrate diverse renewable technologies while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, sustainability, and performance.

Marco Arcelli, CEO of ACWA Power, said, “The rapid development of the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Project demonstrates our commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the global energy transition. By producing and exporting green ammonia, we aim to help international markets decarbonize and promote a cleaner, sustainable world.”

T Madhava Das, Senior Executive Vice President at L&T, added, “Saudi Arabia has made remarkable progress in clean energy and industrial decarbonisation. We are proud to contribute to its vision, particularly in fostering regional and international integration of clean energy along the India–Middle East–Europe corridor. This MoU marks a major milestone in our partnership with ACWA Power.”
