In an important step toward sustainable energy solutions, IOC GPS Renewables Pvt. Ltd. (IGRPL) has entered into a tripartite agreement with GAIL (India) Ltd. and IndianOil-Adani Gas Pvt. Ltd. (IOAGPL) for the offtake of Compressed Biogas (CBG) from an upcoming 15 tonnes-per-day (TPD) plant in Kaithal, Haryana.
The agreement, signed on July 10, 2025, will play a key role in the promotion of CBG across India. Key representatives present at the signing included Akash Bhawan, Zonal Officer-in-Charge for GAIL Chandigarh; Col. Neeraj Marwah, GM (Commercial) at IGRPL; and Bhashit Dholakia, COO of IOAGPL. The collaboration aims to establish a seamless ecosystem for CBG—from production to end-user delivery.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to India’s National Bio-Energy Mission, which focuses on converting agricultural and organic waste into clean energy. IGRPL’s Kaithal facility is expected to produce 15 TPD of CBG, contributing to a circular economy by turning waste into valuable resources. The initiative is also seen as a step toward enhancing rural energy security and supporting the nation’s net-zero goals.
By combining IGRPL’s production capabilities, GAIL’s infrastructure, and IOAGPL’s distribution network, the agreement aims to significantly scale up the availability of CBG nationwide.
