The European Biogas Association (EBA) reports that investment in biogas within the EU has surged by third this year, reported Process and Control Today. This increase is expected to lead to the construction of an additional 950 biomethane plants by 2030, complementing the 1,300 facilities currently in operation. Concurrently, the American Biogas Council (ABC) indicates that 2023 marked the third consecutive year of significant growth in the US biogas sector, with almost 100 new projects coming online last year and a similar number planned for this year. Additionally, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has underscored the rising importance and demand for biogas in Asia and the Pacific.
In response to this rapid expansion, HRS Heat Exchangers is experiencing heightened demand for its specialized systems for biogas and anaerobic digestion, particularly the Biogas Dehumidification System (BDS). Antonio Guillermo Jara Ponce, Systems Sales Manager at HRS Heat Exchangers, notes, “Over the past year, we have supplied several BDS systems globally. The industry now recognizes the significant advantages of removing moisture from biogas, leading to increased specifications for these systems from the outset.”
He adds, “We are also witnessing strong interest in retrofit installations as operators upgrade their plants to enhance operational efficiency. Protecting the CHP engine, one of the most costly components of an AD plant, is a sound business decision.”
