The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) is anticipating an investment of around Rs 1,600 crore in the biogas sector during the upcoming Renewable Energy India Expo (REI) 2024, which kicks off on Thursday.
As the leading organization representing biogas operators, manufacturers, and plant planners in the country, IBA is optimistic about the opportunities presented by this prominent event.
In an interview with PTI, IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia stated, “We expect to see investment announcements of approximately Rs 1,600 crore in the biogas sector during REI 2024.”
Kedia also noted that participation at this year’s expo is expected to rise by 20 percent compared to last year.
He highlighted the significant untapped potential within the biogas sector, pointing out that, although it currently contributes less than one percent to the energy mix, it is set for substantial growth and could play a crucial role in India’s energy landscape by 2030.
The association believes that the expo will create considerable momentum for the biogas industry.
The Bio-Energy Pavilion 2024 is backed by various government ministries and key organizations, including the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the National Institute of Bio-Energy, and the World Bioenergy Association.
This three-day event will take place at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and is recognized as one of India’s premier platforms for innovations in renewable energy. It will feature advancements across sectors such as bio-energy, solar power, wind energy, electric vehicles, and energy storage solutions.
