India, Brazil engage in talks on bilateral economic relations in sugar, ethanol sector

Ambassador of Brazil H.E Kenneth H. da Nobrega and Mr. Angelo Mauricio, Agricultural Attache, Embassy of Brazil paid a visit to the Department of Food and Public Distribution.

Secretary, DFPD, Shri Sanjeev Chopra along with senior departmental officers held a detailed discussion on several aspects of bilateral economic relations in the areas of Sugar, Ethanol, Food Security, and explored opportunities to diversify & develop new avenues of cooperation.

India is set to host the ‘ISO Council Meeting’ in New Delhi from June 25 to June 27, 2024, marking a global event in the sugar sector. Delegates from over 30 countries and representatives of various international organizations will convene to discuss critical issues pertaining to the sugar and biofuel sectors.

Given India’s status as the world’s largest consumer and second-largest producer of sugar, it has been nominated as the Chair of the ISO Council for 2024.
