EaseMyTrip to invest Rs200 crore in electric bus manufacturing, signs tender for sustainable transport in MP

At the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025 in Bhopal, Rikant Pittie, CEO of EaseMyTrip, unveiled plans for a Rs 200 crore investment in the electric bus sector. The investment is aimed at transforming sustainable transportation in Madhya Pradesh, in line with the growth of India’s electric vehicle (EV) industry, which is currently valued at USD 3 billion and growing at an 18% annual rate.

Pittie revealed that EaseMyTrip, through its wholly owned subsidiaries YoloBus and Easy Green Mobility, has won a tender to introduce electric buses in Sagar and other cities across Madhya Pradesh. “We’ve signed an agreement—actually, a tender—to deploy a significant number of buses in Sagar. This initiative will be carried out by YoloBus and our manufacturing division, Easy Green Mobility, to provide sustainable transportation as the EV sector continues to thrive,” Pittie explained.

The company has already secured board approval for the investment and plans to allocate funds towards establishing a dedicated manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh. “We plan to deploy many buses across the state and are also looking at setting up a bus manufacturing plant here. Our first bus will be on the roads of Madhya Pradesh by August,” he added.

In its initial phase, EaseMyTrip aims to roll out 500 electric buses across the state in 2025, with plans for substantial expansion, targeting 1,000 buses in 2026. While Pittie refrained from sharing specifics about additional cities, he confirmed that tenders have been submitted and will be disclosed in the near future.

EaseMyTrip is also committed to supporting India’s manufacturing sector. Pittie emphasized the company’s full alignment with the ‘Make in India’ initiative, stating that the buses will be manufactured domestically. “We are a company built in India, and we see significant potential in manufacturing here, which is a key focus for us,” he concluded.
