Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Tuesday that the state’s first municipal solid waste (MSW) Bio-CNG plant in Naini is set to begin operations. The plant is expected to support a clean and organized Maha Kumbh and continue benefiting the city of Prayagraj in the future.
During his visit to Prayagraj to review preparations for the Maha Kumbh, the Chief Minister inspected the Bio-CNG plant. He highlighted that the facility has created employment opportunities for 200 families and operates under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Speaking about the project, CM Yogi stated, “This Bio-CNG plant reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Waste to Wealth.’ It utilizes advanced technology to convert municipal solid waste into biogas as part of a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) initiative.”
Officials explained that the plant processes about 200 tons of wet waste daily, collected from homes, hotels, restaurants, and temples in Prayagraj. It produces approximately 21,500 kilograms of Bio-CNG and 209 tons of organic compost.
The facility has a total capacity to process 343 tons of waste daily, generating 21.5 tons of Bio-CNG, 109 tons of solid organic fertilizer, and 100 tons of liquid organic fertilizer. It is projected to cut annual carbon emissions by 56,700 tons, contributing to sustainable waste management and environmental protection.
