Godavari Biorefineries Limited has secured a European patent for a biodegradable biofiller designed to partially replace carbon black in tyres and other rubber products, the company said in a stock exchange filing on September 5, 2026.
The European Patent Office granted the patent for the invention titled “A Biofiller for Rubber Reinforcement”, according to the company’s filing with the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. Patent EP3313916 was published on August 12, 2026.
The company said the biofiller has been developed as an economical and environmentally friendly alternative that can partially replace conventional carbon black while maintaining or improving important mechanical properties of rubber products.
Godavari Biorefineries said the technology also offers a scalable manufacturing process, which could support its use across different rubber product applications.
The biofiller can potentially be used in tyres, footwear, belts, bags and other industrial rubber products, the company said. According to the filing, the technology combines performance benefits with potential cost savings and environmental advantages.
