New Delhi: Tata Power has signed an initial agreement with Bhutan’s Druk Green Power Corporation to develop a training framework aimed at supporting the creation of 5,000 MW of clean energy capacity in the Himalayan nation.
Under the agreement, training programmes will be delivered through the Tata Power Skill Development Institute, which focuses on building industry-ready skills in the power sector.
Tata Power CEO and Managing Director Praveer Sinha said the partnership reflects a shared vision of preparing a skilled workforce to meet the growing demands of Bhutan’s clean energy sector, The Economic Times reported.
Managing Director of DGPC Dasho Chhewang Rinzin described the agreement as a practical step towards strengthening local capabilities needed to support the ongoing plan to expand clean energy capacity.
TPSDI was set up to address skill gaps in the power sector by offering modular training and certification programmes aligned with industry needs. It operates training centres across India and provides hands-on learning across the power value chain, including thermal, hydel and renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind and green hydrogen.
The agreement was formally signed by Sinha and Rinzin, marking a step forward in building technical expertise to support large-scale clean energy development in Bhutan.
