Latur: The Vikasratna Vilasrao Deshmukh Manjara Cooperative Sugar Factory has started producing compressed biogas (CBG) with a capacity of eight metric tonnes per day, following the launch of its new project on Tuesday.
The facility was inaugurated by former minister and chairman Diliprao Deshmukh in the presence of local leaders and officials. With the commissioning of the unit, the factory will now produce eight metric tonnes of CBG daily.
Speaking at the event, Deshmukh said the factory has always focused on the welfare of farmers and has set an example by adopting fully mechanised sugarcane harvesting. He said the new project marks a step forward in modernising operations and reflects the vision of late leader Vilasrao Deshmukh.
He added that the factory will continue to work towards improving its performance and strengthening trust through consistent efforts.
Vice Chairman Ashokrao Kale outlined details of the ongoing crushing season during his remarks.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mayor Jayshree Sonkambale and other representatives from cooperative and local institutions, along with the factory’s board members, Executive Director Pandit Desai, officials and staff.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Kailas Patil.
