Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday said that green energy is the need of the hour and that the state is progressing towards a clean, bright, and sustainable future through integrated energy production, reports milleniumpost.
He made the remarks while virtually inaugurating three newly built Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants of Reliance Green Energy located in Bhopal, Indore, and Satna from the Chief Minister’s residence.
Describing the CBG plants as symbols of partnership and progress, Yadav said the facilities not only convert waste into energy but also help tackle environmental issues such as stubble burning. He added that with private participation and collaboration, Madhya Pradesh aims to become a leading hub for green energy.
The Chief Minister said the inauguration marks the beginning of a new phase of clean energy, green growth, and a self-reliant Madhya Pradesh. The Bhopal plant, established by Reliance Industries Limited, is the largest and most advanced CBG facility in the state. The project supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Waste to Wealth” and “Energy from Waste” and contributes to India’s target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
Each unit will produce 22.5 tonnes of CBG per day from 260 tonnes of agricultural residue, providing an effective alternative to stubble burning. The gas generated from one plant can power around 2,000 auto-rickshaws and small vehicles. Each facility is expected to create employment for more than 250 people.
Reliance Industries has invested about ₹700 crore in six CBG plants across Madhya Pradesh, with a combined annual production capacity of 45,000 tonnes. These plants are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 17,000 tonnes every year.
“Such innovations not only benefit farmers but also enhance the state’s green credentials by turning agricultural waste into a valuable resource,” Yadav said.
Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Neeraj Mandloi, Principal Secretary (Industry) Raghwendra Kumar Singh, Secretary to the CM Alok Kumar Singh, and Reliance Group President Farhan Ansari were present at the event.
