Big biogas win for STORTEC in Australia

STORTEC Engineering Limited, a leading contractor specialising in liquid storage, biogas, and mechanical systems, has secured a significant contract to design and construct digesters and a hydrolysis tank for a new food-waste-to-energy facility in Australia.

The project will feature STORTEC’s Ultrastore stainless steel tanks, designed using advanced material selection to ensure long asset life. More than 85% of the tank materials come from recycled sources, supporting the project’s sustainability goals.

Each 4,000m³ digester will be equipped with Landia’s externally mounted GasMix system, which has already proven successful at an anaerobic digestion (AD) site near Perth, Western Australia.

For the hydrolysis tank, STORTEC has chosen Landia’s JetMix system, configured with specialised jetting nozzles to handle food waste with dissolved solids (DS) of up to 16% and pH levels ranging between 5 and 8.

“This major order reflects the growing global demand for our sustainable and innovative solutions,” said Matt Dickinson, Managing Director of STORTEC. “Our business model allows us to function as a design and manufacturing partner, a turnkey solutions provider, or a principal contractor. In every role, we work closely with our supply chain to ensure high-quality delivery.”

Dickinson added, “Our clients expect durable, low-maintenance systems that effectively mix tank contents. That’s why we’re confident in deploying Landia’s pumps and mixers for this project.”

Beyond the AD and biogas sectors, both STORTEC and Landia also serve the water, wastewater, agriculture, and broader industrial markets, offering robust and long-lasting engineered solutions.
