Biogas equipment manufacturer Vogelsang has introduced the MixXPump, a new feed system designed to enhance flexibility and efficiency in anaerobic digestion (AD) plants, reports Bioenergy Insight.
The MixXPump is a compact and flat unit, making it suitable for integration into existing setups, especially where space or layout limitations pose challenges.
At the heart of the system is Vogelsang’s HiCone progressive cavity pump, engineered to increase service life and reduce the need for frequent parts replacement.
Jonathan Gutteridge, Managing Director of Vogelsang, said the MixXPump provides a practical solution for processing solid feedstocks such as maize silage and dry animal feed. He explained that the feed system plays a key role in determining gas yield and energy use in AD plants, and the MixXPump’s design helps operators optimise feedstock preparation while simplifying installation in existing systems.
The HiCone pump transfers prepared solid material as a suspension into the digesters. Its conical rotor–stator design allows operators to adjust for wear on conveying components, cutting down on maintenance and downtime.
When servicing is required, Vogelsang’s QuickService feature enables maintenance work to be completed within a few hours, reducing interruptions to the fermentation process.
The MixXPump adds to Vogelsang’s range of feed systems developed to help AD plant operators improve performance, reliability, and overall productivity in biogas generation.
