Uttar Pradesh positive on ₹6,000 crore compressed biogas projects

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has recently given the go-ahead to new compressed biogas (CBG) projects with a total investment of ₹6,000 crore, signaling a significant push towards sustainable energy, reports Business Standard.

Currently, Uttar Pradesh leads the nation in operational CBG infrastructure, boasting 25 functional plants with a combined production capacity of 213 tonnes per day (TPD). This accounts for 20 percent of India’s total operational CBG capacity. Following Uttar Pradesh are Gujarat with 21 operational plants (16 percent) and Maharashtra with 12 plants (9 percent).

Furthermore, Uttar Pradesh has an additional 129 new CBG plants in various stages of development, indicating a strong commitment to expanding its green energy footprint.

According to a senior government official, Uttar Pradesh has ambitious plans to further scale up its renewable energy production, aiming for a CBG capacity of 1,000 TPD, bio-coal production of 4,000 TPD, and bio-diesel production of 2,000 kilo litres in the future.
