The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced on January 10 that it is awarding $120 million in grants to support 516 projects as part of the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). One of those awards will support a biogas project under development by High Plains Ag Energy LLC in Kansas.
The company has been granted $1 million to assist in building an anaerobic digester in Scott County, Kansas. Once completed, the digester is expected to produce about 60,548 MMBTU of renewable natural gas each year, helping to promote cleaner energy production.
