Fuel ethanol production in the United States declined by 1% during the week ending June 13, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on June 18. Meanwhile, both ethanol stocks and exports saw notable increases, reports Ethanol Producer Magazine.
Production averaged 1.019 million barrels per day, a decrease of 11,000 barrels per day from the previous week’s record of 1.12 million barrels per day. Despite the week-over-week dip, production was still 52,000 barrels per day higher than the same week in 2023.
Ethanol stocks rose to 24.12 million barrels, up 386,000 barrels compared to the 23.734 million barrels reported the week before. Year-over-year, this marked an increase of 503,000 barrels.
Exports also climbed, averaging 163,000 barrels per day—an increase of 12,000 barrels per day from the previous week. Compared to the same period last year, exports were up by 87,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending June 13.
The latest figures highlight continued strong demand for U.S. ethanol on global markets, even as domestic production takes a minor step back from record highs.
