Transformers and Rectifiers India to establish new plant for solar and green hydrogen projects

Transformers and Rectifiers India is expanding its operations with a new plant dedicated to manufacturing transformers for the growing solar energy sector.  Managing Director Satyen Mamtora announced the facility will have a monthly production capacity of 150 transformers, specifically designed for solar and green hydrogen projects, reported CNBC TV 18.

“This new plant will focus on producing transformers essential for solar and green hydrogen initiatives,” Mamtora explained.

These new transformers will have a capacity of approximately 12.5 MVA (megavolt amperes).  This expansion will boost the company’s production capacity to roughly 15,000 MVA.  Further increasing their reach, the company plans to expand its Moraiya plant’s capacity to 20,000 MVA, bringing their combined manufacturing capacity to an estimated 65,000-70,000 MVA.  “While other companies are talking about capacity increases by 2028, we are moving forward now,” Mamtora added.

Mamtora noted the high demand for transformers in India, stating that the current annual demand is around 4.5 lakh MVA, while the supply is only about 3.8 lakh MVA.  Transformers and Rectifiers India currently have inquiries for approximately 18,000 MVA and anticipates converting roughly 20% of those into firm orders in the next two quarters.

Mamtora confirmed that the recently approved resolution for a qualified institutional placement (QIP) of ₹750 crore is intended to support the company’s organic growth.  He also projected that the company’s profit margins for the 2026 fiscal year are expected to be in the 15-16% range.

The company’s market capitalisation is currently around ₹11,583.40 crore, and its stock value has increased by nearly 6% over the past year.
