TPREL crosses 10 GW project execution mark

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has crossed the milestone of executing 10 GW of renewable energy projects, strengthening its position as a major player in India’s clean energy expansion.

The company, a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, said in its press release that it has so far commissioned 10 GW of engineering, procurement and construction projects. This includes 9.7 GW of solar power projects and 290 megawatts of wind power projects. Of the total, 4.2 GW were developed for its own use, while 5.8 GW were completed for third-party clients.

During the first nine months of the 2025–26 financial year, TPREL commissioned 1.88 GW of renewable energy capacity. This marked an increase of 33% compared with the 1.4 GW commissioned during the same period of the previous financial year. The company said the growth reflects steady project execution, careful planning and a strong focus on quality and safety.

Of the 1.88 GW added during this period, 1,329 MW came from solar projects built for external clients, while 546 MW were completed for the company’s own renewable energy portfolio. The in-house additions included 187 MW of wind projects and 359 MW of solar projects. These installations were carried out across five states and involved work in difficult ground and weather conditions.

In the third quarter of FY26 alone, TPREL commissioned 941 MW of renewable energy projects. This was the company’s highest-ever quarterly addition and represented a 139% rise compared with the 393 MW commissioned in the same quarter of the previous year.

During the quarter the company completed projects including solar installations for NHPC, NLC and SJVNL in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and a 187 MW wind project in Karur, Tamil Nadu.

With these additions, TPREL’s total operating utility-scale renewable energy capacity has reached 6 GW, including 4.8 GW of solar power and 1.2 GW of wind power. The company said it plans to commission a further 0.75 GW of utility-owned capacity during the current financial year.
