Telangana: Chief Minister asks officials to purchase EVs for govt departments

Hyderabad: A. Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana, has directed officials to purchase only electric vehicles for all government departments as part of efforts to reduce pollution, PTI reported.

During a review meeting with officials from the transport and roads and buildings departments on Wednesday night, the chief minister also instructed that only electric vehicles should be hired within the Core Urban Region (CURE), which mainly covers areas within the limits of Hyderabad.

According to an official statement, Reddy also asked departments to prepare short films on road safety and ensure they are widely screened to create public awareness.

The chief minister further directed officials to draw up plans for establishing a modern bus terminal at Shamshabad, where a high-speed rail corridor has been proposed.

He said the city is expected to be connected through high-speed rail corridors linking Hyderabad with Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai.
