Suzuki Motor Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiary Suzuki R&D Center India Private Limited, is collaborating with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to establish biogas production plants in partnership with dairy industry unions in India. Recently, agreements were made with two dairy unions, Amul Dairy (Anand, Gujarat) and Dudhsagar Dairy (Mehsana, Gujarat), to set up new biogas facilities.
The 60-year anniversary ceremony of NDDB, held on October 22, was attended by Amul Dairy President Amit Vyas, Dudhsagar Dairy Executive Director Pravin Bhambi, NDDB Director S. Rajeev, and Suzuki Managing Officer Kenichiro Toyofuku. The event was graced by H.E. Mr. Amit Shah, Minister of Home Affairs, and Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, who extended their best wishes.
In addition, Suzuki, along with NDDB and Banas Dairy, a dairy industry union in Banaskantha, Gujarat, is working on establishing five biogas production plants to create and sell automotive fuel derived from cow dung. The agreements with Amul Dairy and Dudhsagar Dairy will further enhance the biogas initiative in Gujarat.
During the ceremony, Mr. Toyofuku expressed, “We are very pleased to collaborate with new partners to promote the biogas business. Suzuki will continue to expand its biogas initiatives in Gujarat and other regions of India to help achieve a carbon-neutral society, using appropriate methods in suitable locations.”
