Samaiden secures three bio-energy projects under Malaysia’s 2025 e-bidding mechanism

Samaiden Group Bhd has secured three bio-energy project awards under the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia’s 2025 e-bidding mechanism, marking a major milestone in the company’s push to diversify its renewable energy portfolio, reports The Star.

In a statement, the renewable energy specialist said the awarded projects—located in Johor, Terengganu, and Kelantan—will contribute over 18 megawatts of biomass and biogas capacity to its operations. This development further boosts Samaiden’s standing in Malaysia’s renewable energy sector.

The approved projects include two biomass power plants in Tangkak, Johor and Kemaman, Terengganu, as well as a biogas power plant in Bachok, Kelantan. Each project has received a 21-year feed-in tariff approval and is slated to begin commissioning from the second half of 2028.

Group Managing Director Datuk Chow Pui Hee said the project awards represent a key step in expanding the company’s clean energy capabilities beyond solar.

“This diversification strengthens our long-term earnings visibility, supports Malaysia’s decarbonisation agenda, and positions Samaiden as a comprehensive clean energy solution provider,” she said.

The latest project wins reflect Samaiden’s strategic focus on contributing to Malaysia’s transition toward sustainable energy.
