SAEL Industries to invest Rs 22,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh for solar, BESS, biomass and other projects

SAEL Industries has announced plans to invest ₹22,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh across key sectors such as green energy, biomass, data centres, and port development, according to a statement released by the state government. The investment is expected to generate more than 70,000 employment opportunities across the state, reports Energetica India.

The agreement is likely to be formalised during the CII Partnership Summit, scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on November 14–15, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) said in a statement.

Under the proposal, SAEL’s investment will cover several verticals, including large-scale solar and battery storage projects, biomass-based power generation, a hyperscale-ready data centre, and port-linked infrastructure aimed at improving industrial growth and logistics efficiency.

The company plans to develop seven solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with a total capacity of 1,750 MW across Kadapa and Kurnool districts. These projects are intended to provide round-the-clock renewable energy for industrial and data centre operations. SAEL secured the projects through auctions conducted by NHPC and the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

In addition, the company will launch a 200 MW biomass initiative—comprising eight units of 25 MW each—to promote rural employment and strengthen value chains for agricultural residues. A ₹3,000 crore data centre project is also planned to take advantage of Andhra Pradesh’s expanding digital infrastructure, while a ₹4,000 crore investment in port development aims to boost maritime trade and export competitiveness.

SAEL has already invested ₹3,200 crore in the state, commissioning 600 MW of renewable energy capacity within the past nine months, the release added.
