Jaipur: Rajasthan has sought Central assistance for its renewable energy initiatives and urged the Union government to include the State’s projects in the third phase of the Green Energy Corridor (GEC-III) for developing intra-State transmission infrastructure. The State is expected to invest about ₹9,000 crore in transmission projects, reports The Hindu.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who met Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi on Wednesday (August 20, 2025), said Rajasthan had received several investment proposals in renewable energy. Central support, he added, was essential to accelerate infrastructure development and meet renewable energy targets.
During the meeting, Mr. Sharma also pressed for financial aid to urban bodies in non-million plus cities under the 15th Finance Commission. He said such assistance would allow local bodies to execute development projects more effectively.
The Chief Minister further drew attention to the fifth phase of the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP), prepared with joint funding from the Asian Development Bank and World Bank. He said the proposal had already been submitted to the Centre and expressed hope for a favourable response.
“The State government is committed to achieving the goals of urban development, including water supply, wastewater management, solid waste management, urban traffic reforms, flood management, and heritage conservation,” Mr. Sharma said. Early approval of the RUIDP phase-V, he added, would accelerate overall urban growth in Rajasthan.
