Odisha govt approves green energy and EV projects

Bhubaneswar: The state-level single window clearance authority (SLSWCA), chaired by chief secretary Manoj Ahuja, on Wednesday approved 18 new industrial projects with a combined investment of ₹4,515 crore across eight districts of Odisha. The projects, spread over diverse sectors including green energy, biofuel, pharmaceuticals, tourism, electric vehicles (EV), food and beverages, and steel, are expected to generate around 8,200 jobs, reports The New Indian Express.

In the renewable energy space, a Raipur-based company will set up a 2 GW solar cell manufacturing unit in Ganjam with an investment of ₹750 crore, creating 515 jobs. INOX Solar Ltd has proposed a ₹283-crore investment in Dhenkanal to establish a 5 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) assembly plant. Jindal Stainless Ltd will invest ₹90 crore to build a green hydrogen manufacturing unit in Jajpur.

Sanaka Auto Corp Ltd plans to set up an EV manufacturing facility in Khurda with an investment of ₹300 crore to produce 10,000 units annually, creating 145 jobs.

Vibrant Spirits Pvt Ltd will establish a compressed biogas unit in Sundargarh with a capacity of 4,000 MTPA and an investment of ₹50 crore.

The government said the approved projects will further strengthen Odisha’s industrial base while supporting employment and economic growth in key sectors.
