A new biodiesel known as “HVO,” which is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, is currently undergoing testing through a collaboration between Tri Petch Isuzu Sales and the national oil and gas conglomerate PTT Plc, reported The Nation.
HVO, a blend of used vegetable oil and diesel fuel, is reported to produce 30% less carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to conventional biodiesel, according to Tri Petch Isuzu Sales Ltd. The testing involves Isuzu ELF trucks operated by Mon Transport Ltd, a major logistics provider.
As per media report, the tests, which have covered over 5,000 kilometers so far, have shown no issues or abnormalities. The testing phase is expected to conclude in February of next year.
This project aligns with Isuzu’s “Multi-Pathways to Carbon Neutrality” policy, aimed at reducing environmental impact and enhancing the efficiency of Thailand’s logistics network.
Additionally, Isuzu Motor in Japan has announced plans to produce electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030, including pickup trucks, medium to large-sized trucks, and passenger buses. The company also pledged to invest 1 trillion yen (approximately 240 billion baht) by 2030 in carbon neutrality and logistics research and development. Furthermore, Isuzu Motor will establish an EV development and testing center named “The Earth Lab” by 2026.
