Neste to supply SAF to Emirates at Amsterdam airport

In a significant stride towards sustainability, Neste, the global leader in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel, has initiated the supply of SAF to Emirates at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This move marks an expansion of the partnership announced between the two companies last October. Throughout 2024, over 6,000 tons (2 million gallons) of blended SAF will be seamlessly integrated into the airport’s fueling system.

Emirates’ collaboration with Neste signifies one of the largest SAF procurement volumes for the airline to date. Upon full integration into Schiphol Airport’s infrastructure, more than 2,000 tons (700,000 gallons) of neat SAF will have been provided as part of the blended SAF supply. Neste is actively working with Emirates to extend SAF supply to Singapore Changi Airport in the coming months.

Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer at Emirates, emphasised the significance of such partnerships in the airline’s sustainability journey, highlighting the pivotal role of collaborations at major air transport hubs like Amsterdam in enhancing SAF accessibility and availability across their network.

Expressing pride in supporting Emirates’ sustainability endeavours, Alexander Kueper, Vice President of Renewable Aviation at Neste, underscored the importance of SAF in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from air travel. He lauded Emirates’ adoption of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as a testament to collaborative efforts aimed at accelerating SAF usage, eagerly anticipating further strides in their cooperation.
