The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) successfully organized the National Mobility Awards and Summit-2025 at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, on Saturday, under the theme “Accelerating Future Mobility: Green, Integrated, and Digitally Driven.” The one-day summit emphasized Gujarat’s leadership in the transportation sector and featured discussions on tackling future challenges and discovering new opportunities in mobility.
The event, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and guided by Harsh Sanghavi, Minister of State for Transport, offered a platform for industry leaders to discuss the state’s advancements and future plans in the mobility space.
R.C. Meena, Principal Secretary of the Ports and Transport Department, Government of Gujarat, highlighted the critical role GSRTC plays in the state’s transportation network, noting that the corporation safely transports over 27 lakh passengers daily. Meena also pointed out Gujarat’s commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like electric and CNG buses, propelling the state towards greener, more eco-friendly transportation options.
M. Nagarajan, Managing Director of GSRTC, remarked that public transport users today demand comfort, safety, and seamless multimodal connectivity. He reiterated GSRTC’s commitment to meeting these needs and emphasized the importance of future-oriented models, including asset monetization and non-fare revenue generation.
Historic MoU with SBI to Drive Sustainable Transport
A significant highlight of the summit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GSRTC and the State Bank of India (SBI). The MoU aims to strengthen financial stability and foster innovation in the public transport sector. An official from SBI revealed that the bank’s green financing has already exceeded ₹63,000 crore, and this partnership with GSRTC is expected to further accelerate sustainable transportation initiatives across India.
Launch of E-Governance Magazine Special Edition
The summit also saw the launch of a special edition of the E-Governance Magazine, dedicated to GSRTC and Gujarat’s green transport initiatives. Leading companies, including Tata Motors, Charge Zone, JSL, AMNEX, and SBI, participated in the event. In addition, the National Mobility Awards-2025 were presented to organizations for their outstanding contributions to both public and private transport.
Focus on Future Mobility Models
The summit featured detailed discussions on several crucial topics, including electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, digital ticketing, AI-based fleet management, safety standards, and non-fare revenue generation. These conversations aimed to pave the way for more efficient, sustainable, and innovative mobility solutions.
GSRTC reaffirmed its commitment to offering citizen-centric, eco-friendly, and digitally empowered transport services, solidifying Gujarat’s position as a leader in India’s green and integrated mobility revolution. The summit also showcased the state’s resolve to continue shaping the future of transportation in India.
