Since launching the “Moroccan Offer” for land and tax incentives, the Moroccan government has received nearly 40 proposals for green hydrogen projects from developers within six months, according to a summary of a recent committee meeting.
In March, the government announced plans to allocate one million hectares (10,000 square kilometers) for renewable hydrogen projects. Initially, 3,000 square kilometers were made available, divided into lots ranging from 100 to 300 square kilometers each.
While the complete assessment criteria for land allocation have not been disclosed, the government has indicated that, alongside the financial strength of developers or consortia, it will consider factors such as the impact on Morocco’s industries, including the localization of supply chains and domestic offtake.
