Jefferson City: The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA) has announced an investment of nearly $3.4 million to expand the distribution and use of higher ethanol and biodiesel blends across Missouri.
Among the eight projects receiving funding is the MFA Oil Company in Palmyra, which aims to increase the availability of biodiesel blends B6 or higher. Funding covered expenses related to the construction, installation, upgrades, or retrofitting of fuel dispensers, pumps, storage tanks, and other infrastructure.
MASBDA Executive Director Jill Wood expressed satisfaction with the partnership involving Missouri Soybean and Missouri Corn, highlighting its benefits for farmers and consumers. “These projects will create demand for two of Missouri’s top commodities, which helps growers, while also offering options for consumers,” Wood said.
Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council Chair Mark Lehenbauer from Palmyra emphasized the impact of biodiesel as a renewable fuel. “Biodiesel is a Missouri-made, renewable fuel that supports Missouri soybean farmers and provides more options for suppliers and fleets,” he said. “This program is an important step in building new demand and access for biodiesel while boosting the state’s economy.”
Missouri Corn Growers Association President Matt Lambert, a corn farmer from Laclede, expressed optimism about expanding biofuel retail locations statewide. “We’re excited to work with our partners to incentivize additional biofuel retail locations and provide drivers with increased access to homegrown fuels,” Lambert said. “Despite challenges during the 2024 legislative session, securing funding underscores the value Missouri agriculture brings to the state’s economy. We look forward to increased use of biofuels, stronger markets for Missouri farmers, and cost-effective fuel options.”
Funding for biofuel infrastructure was provided by the Missouri General Assembly.
