Leszno Utility to build biomass cogeneration plant worth PLN 122 million

The municipal utility of Leszno (MPEC) in central Poland will invest PLN 122 million (USD 33 million/EUR 28.6 million) to construct a biomass-fired cogeneration (CHP) plant with a capacity of 3.41 MWe and 10.8 MWt, reports Renewables Now.

MPEC announced on Tuesday that it has contracted local firm Energika Kotły Parowe i Wodne to design, supply, and build the new facility.

The plant will be integrated with the existing Zatorze heating plant and connected to the city’s district heating and power systems.

Funding for the project amounts to PLN 123.6 million from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. This includes PLN 53.9 million in grants and PLN 69.7 million in preferential loans.

At current rates, PLN 1 equals USD 0.273 or EUR 0.234.
