Kitchen maker Moores goes green, switches entire truck fleet to renewable biodiesel

Kitchen manufacturer Moores has announced a major step in its environmental strategy by converting its entire fleet of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to run on renewable biodiesel. The company says this change will sharply reduce carbon emissions and improve overall air quality, reports KBFfocus.

Moores’ 30-vehicle fleet now runs on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a type of biodiesel made from renewable sources. The switch is expected to reduce the fleet’s carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions by up to 90%, while also cutting other harmful pollutants such as nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter. According to the company, this environmental benefit is similar to removing 45,000 cars from the road.

The transition required no modifications to the existing vehicles, proving that eco-friendly solutions can be both simple and impactful. Moores sees this move as not just a win for the environment but also a leadership moment for the wider industry.

“This is a real game-changer for us,” said David Lomax, Head of Distributions and Installations at Moores. “Our investment in HVO underlines our commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Within the next three months, we expect over half of our customer deliveries will be made using HVO-powered vehicles, saving over 1 million tonnes of CO₂ annually. By the end of the year, all our trucks will run on biofuel, helping us cut more than 2 million tonnes of CO₂ by 2026.”
