Kandla Port signs MoU with Green-Kutch NextGen to promote green hydrogen ecosystem

Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has entered into a strategic partnership with Green-Kutch NextGen Pvt. Ltd. by signing a Memorandum of Understanding during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference held in Rajkot on Sunday. The MoU was signed by DPA Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, marking a key milestone in advancing community-driven participation in the green hydrogen ecosystem at Kandla under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, according to an official release.

The collaboration is designed to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), create employment opportunities for youth, and fast-track decarbonisation efforts. As part of the initiative, DPA plans to establish the “Kutch Green Hydrogen Park,” featuring plug-and-play infrastructure that will allow industry players to set up modular green hydrogen production and storage units. The project aligns with India’s long-term Net Zero goals.

In a separate development, DPA Kandla achieved a major digital milestone on January 1 by successfully rolling out all modules of its Enterprise Business System (EBS). The full-scale implementation, witnessed by Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh and Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS, along with senior officials and representatives from Tech Mahindra, is expected to streamline operations and modernise port management.

Officials noted that the EBS deployment will help lower operational costs, enhance supply chain transparency, and improve ease of doing business for port users and other stakeholders.

The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) 2026 for the Saurashtra-Kutch region took place on January 11 and 12 in Rajkot, with renewable energy, sustainability, and future-oriented infrastructure emerging as central themes. The two-day event was inaugurated earlier by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.

The conference featured structured interactions through B2B, B2G and G2G meetings, along with a vendor meet and a startup felicitation programme, fostering engagement among policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and innovators.

Through VGRC 2026, Gujarat is seeking to strengthen its integrated strategy for energy security and sustainable industrial growth, reinforcing its contribution to India’s push for energy self-reliance and the broader vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
