Jordan Green Ammonia LLC has finalized land agreements for a site in its home country where it intends to establish a green hydrogen and ammonia production facility, along with an on-site solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, reported Renewables now.
The land use agreements were signed with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), as announced by Jordan Green on Thursday. This deal follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the developer and the country’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) last October.
The planned facility aims to produce between 100,000 and 300,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually through water electrolysis. It will operate independently of the grid, sourcing power from off-grid PV panels and energy storage systems. The installation will be phased, with production expected to begin by 2029.
According to the land use agreement with ASEZA, Jordan Green will be allowed to conduct feasibility studies and finalize engineering designs in the coming months. The company has already completed a technical report and a pre-feasibility study related to the project, while the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been conducted by the Jordanian company Dar Al-Handasah.
