Jakson Green bids record low price to supply green ammonia under SIGHT scheme

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has discovered a record-low tariff of ₹50.75 per kg in its sixth green ammonia auction. The tariff was quoted by Jakson Green, which won the bid to supply 85,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green ammonia to Coromandel International Ltd. (CIL) in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

This marks a new benchmark, improving on the previous lowest tariff of ₹51.80/kg, achieved by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. (NTPC REL) for the supply of 70,000 TPA of green ammonia to Krishana Phoschem in Madhya Pradesh.

SECI is conducting a series of 13 auctions under a tender with a total procurement capacity of 7.24 lakh tonnes per year. With six auctions completed, it has already awarded 4.1 lakh tonnes annually. Previous winners include ACME Cleantech Solutions, NTPC REL, Onix Renewable, Oriana Power, and a consortium of SCC Infrastructure with InSolare Energy, with tariffs ranging between ₹51.80/kg and ₹55.75/kg.

In a statement, SECI said the auctions underline the commercial viability of green ammonia in India, with each round showing rapid cost reductions. The agency added that the results strengthen India’s position as a global leader in green hydrogen and its derivatives.

“These results show that the transition to green fuels will be affordable, scalable, and unstoppable, with India at the forefront,” SECI said. “Renewable power alone cannot deliver net zero; fuels like green ammonia are vital to cutting emissions in hard-to-abate sectors. Every price milestone brings us closer to parity with grey ammonia, moving us toward a net-zero future.”

The auctions are being conducted under the SIGHT Scheme (Mode-2A), supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the Department of Fertilizers, and SECI’s e-reverse auction process, which ensures assured offtake and payment security.

SECI added that the strong response to domestic offtake is also paving the way for international collaborations. “India is now ready to partner with countries from Japan and Korea to Germany and beyond, wherever there is a shared vision for a greener future,” the statement said.
