ISCC, OMV and Airbus partner to boost sustainable aviation fuel ecosystem

The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) has partnered with OMV and Airbus to strengthen the global system for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), in a move aimed at supporting efforts to cut emissions in the aviation sector, biofuels international reported.

The collaboration brings together a certification body, an energy company and a major aircraft manufacturer to help expand the production, certification and use of SAF.

Under the partnership, ISCC will provide sustainability certification to ensure that the fuel meets environmental and traceability standards. OMV will contribute its experience in advanced fuel production, while Airbus will support the wider adoption of SAF through its technical knowledge and influence within the aviation industry.

The organisations said the initiative will focus on tackling key challenges that have slowed the wider use of sustainable aviation fuel. These include limited supply, high production costs and the lack of consistent certification standards across markets.

By working together, the partners aim to build confidence across the aviation value chain and encourage more investment in new technologies and raw materials for SAF production.

The initiative reflects growing efforts within the aviation industry to reduce emissions and move towards long-term climate goals.
