Sirohi: In a major action against illegal fuel trade and misuse of domestic LPG cylinders, the Sirohi district food and civil supplies department has seized 2,700 litres of illegally stored biodiesel along with a dispensing unit, motor, drums, and other equipment. Officials said similar inspections will now be carried out regularly, reports Amar Ujala.
According to district supply officer Jagdish Vishnoi, complaints had been coming in for a long time about illegal biodiesel sales near Arihant Petrol Pump, located at the Gujarat border in Mandar. Acting on these inputs, the department conducted a raid and recovered a large quantity of biodiesel and related equipment. All items were seized after completing necessary procedures. Enforcement officer Vinod Parmar, enforcement inspector Asmita Meena, and Sonal Ranawat were present during the operation.
During the same drive, the department also checked complaints about domestic LPG cylinders being used for commercial purposes. A surprise inspection at roadside eateries operating along the highway near Mandar revealed widespread use of household cylinders. The cylinders were confiscated, and those involved were warned against repeating the practice.
The district supply officer said similar checks will continue across the district in the coming days, and strict action will be taken wherever domestic cylinders are found being used commercially. However, contrary to the department’s claims of strict monitoring, commercial misuse of domestic cylinders remains common in Abu Road, Mount Abu, Sirohi, Saroopganj, Pindwara, and nearby rural areas, where officials have not paid adequate attention to the problem.
