German advisory firm greenValue GmbH has supported Balance Erneuerbare Energien GmbH in the purchase of a group of biogas plants located across eastern Germany, ahead of plans to upgrade and modernise the facilities, Bioenergy Insight reported.
The portfolio includes plants in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Together, the sites have a total thermal input capacity of 46 megawatts. Four of the plants supply electricity directly to local grid networks, while the heat produced is distributed to customers through district heating systems.
One of the facilities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania also operates a unit that upgrades biogas into biomethane, with a production capacity of 1,366 cubic metres per hour.
Daniel Kellermann, managing director of greenValue, said the firm reviewed the technical condition of the plants on behalf of Balance. He said the assessment was carried out in close coordination with Balance’s teams to examine future prospects and possible risks, helping prepare the sites for continued operations in the coming years.
Balance Erneuerbare Energien is a subsidiary of Leipzig-based VNG AG and infrastructure investor CVC DIF. The company develops and invests in biogas and biomethane projects and employs around 200 people.
Founded in 2002 and based in Nuremberg, greenValue provides advisory services in renewable energy projects, including biogas, biomethane, wind, solar power, green hydrogen and bio-LNG.
