Chevron Renewable Energy Group has decided to implement short-time work for its workforce at the Oeding, Germany, biodiesel production facility. This decision is a response to a challenging margin environment, primarily caused by alleged fraud and the dumping of Chinese biodiesel flooding the market.
The team plans to start short-time work on August 1, with approval from the Oeding Works Council. Short-time work aims to preserve jobs by providing employees with partial compensation for the loss of earnings due to temporary, unavoidable absences from work.
Chevron remains committed to renewable fuels production, believing that the future of energy is lower carbon. This commitment supports customers in hard-to-electrify sectors, such as long-haul trucking, rail, and marine, in meeting their climate goals.
