The Indian automotive industry is gearing up for a wave of high-profile vehicle launches in early 2026, highlighting increased competition in both the electric vehicle (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) segments. Major players, including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Kia, Renault, and Mahindra, are expected to unveil new models and significant updates to existing lineups to capture consumer attention in the new year.
In the mid-SUV segment, Kia India has introduced the second-generation All-New Kia Seltos, starting at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). According to Kia, the updated model is larger than its predecessor, measuring 4,460 mm in length with a 2,690 mm wheelbase for improved cabin space. Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director & CEO of Kia India, said the launch aims to “redefine the mid-SUV segment by raising standards in space, safety, technology, and overall ownership experience, while delivering exceptional value.”
Hyundai Motor India Limited has expanded its lineup with the HX5+ variant of the Hyundai VENUE, priced at Rs 9,99,900 (ex-showroom). Powered by a 1.2L petrol engine, the variant features quad-beam LED headlamps and a wireless smartphone charger. Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO of Hyundai Motor India, noted that the all-new VENUE has received over 50,000 bookings, and the HX5+ adds comfort and convenience features to meet evolving customer expectations.
Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, later this month. The SUV will feature a minimalist design, 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, and ventilated front seats, with two battery options—48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh—offering a range of up to 500 km on a single charge.
Tata Motors is also expected to debut the Sierra EV early this year. Built on the new Acti.ev+ platform, the SUV will offer up to 500 km of range and an all-wheel-drive option, reviving the iconic Sierra name in the electric segment.
Other anticipated launches include the new-generation Renault Duster, set to debut on January 26 with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine and ADAS technology. Mahindra will also unveil the XUV 7XO on January 5. This revamped version of the XUV700 shares design cues with the XEV 9S while retaining its internal combustion engine.
