On Wednesday, Madrid-based green hydrogen projects developer DH2 Energy announced that its VVR Green renewable hydrogen project, with a capacity of up to 75 MW, has been granted Potential National Interest (PIN) status in Portugal, reported Renewables Now.
The VVR Green project, which is in advanced development, will be executed in two phases in Vila Velha de Ródão, Castelo Branco. The first phase involves installing a 35-MW electrolyser and a 49-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) plant. In the second phase, the project will expand to 75 MW of electrolysis capacity and 100 MWp of solar power.
As per media report, in its initial phase, VVR Green is anticipated to produce 1,650 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
In Portugal, obtaining PIN status is essential for accessing expedited procedures and shorter implementation timelines.
