The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced the launch of a hydrogen-powered shuttle bus service in Delhi’s Central Vista area starting May 15, 2026. The project is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The new service is designed to promote clean mobility while strengthening last-mile connectivity between key locations, including Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth Metro stations, along with nearby government offices in the Central Vista zone, India Today reported.
Under the initiative, Indian Oil Corporation Limited has supplied two hydrogen-fuelled buses to DMRC. Each bus can accommodate 35 passengers and is equipped with GPS tracking and CCTV systems to enhance safety, ensure timely operations, and enable real-time monitoring.
According to officials, the buses will run on all working days from Monday to Friday, excluding gazetted holidays, providing a reliable and eco-friendly transport option for commuters in the area.
The launch marks a significant move towards adopting alternative fuel technologies in urban transport and reducing the environmental impact of city travel.
