Delhi Govt seeks public feedback on draft EV Policy 2026

New Delhi: The Delhi government is working on the Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 with the aim of shaping the future of clean transport and has invited feedback from stakeholders and the general public on its draft, ANI reported.

In an official circular issued on Saturday, the government said the draft policy has been uploaded on the Transport Department’s website and will guide implementation plans until 2030. Citizens and industry stakeholders have been given 30 days from the date of publication to submit their suggestions via email or post.

Authorities have requested that responses be sent only through the specified channels and advised people not to visit offices in person to avoid crowding. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.

The proposed policy focuses on reducing air pollution and promoting cleaner mobility by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles. It draws inspiration from the constitutional right to clean air under Article 21.

Last month, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 300 new electric buses in the city and announced the launch of interstate bus services connecting Delhi with Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. A new office of the Delhi Transport Corporation is also being developed near the IP depot.

Earlier, Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said that more than one lakh electric vehicles have been registered since the current government took office. He noted that the lack of subsidies in the past had slowed adoption, adding that the present government is working to address the gap.

Officials said public participation will play a key role in finalising the policy as the city looks to expand electric mobility and tackle pollution levels.
