Rajasthan has successfully reached the significant milestone of planting 10 crore saplings as part of the ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ campaign. On Tuesday, Minister of State for Forest and Environment (Independent Charge) Sanjay Sharma called on Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma at his residence to extend his congratulations on this achievement.
To mark the occasion, the Chief Minister unveiled a new campaign poster, while the Forest Minister presented him with a symbolic sapling.
Reflecting on the initiative, Chief Minister Sharma stated, “Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, our government is committed to making Rajasthan greener. The ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ campaign, launched last year on the occasion of Hariyali Teej under the Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Mahabhiyan, is part of this larger vision. Our target is to plant 50 crore saplings over five years to enhance environmental protection. To ensure proper monitoring and care, all plantations are being geo-tagged.”
The Chief Minister urged citizens to continue participating enthusiastically by planting more saplings.
He further noted, “Last year, we aimed to plant 7 crore saplings, and we surpassed that by reaching 7.5 crore. This year, with a target of 10 crore, we have already planted over 10.21 crore saplings, and the monsoon season is still ongoing. The department should continue to encourage public participation to build on this momentum.”
Highlighting the broader impact, CM Sharma emphasized that this accomplishment demonstrates the growing environmental awareness and dedication of the people of Rajasthan. “Protecting the environment is a shared duty. Planting trees is more than a gesture — it’s a serious commitment to securing a green future for the next generation,” he added.
The Chief Minister once again appealed to the public to actively support the Hariyalo Rajasthan initiative by planting and nurturing trees.
Under the campaign so far, 37.51 lakh saplings have been planted by individuals, while block-level efforts have accounted for 9.83 crore plants. Overall, plantation activities have taken place across 20 lakh hectares of land, with over 10.21 crore saplings planted at 2,74,920 designated sites.
Various departments have significantly contributed to this drive — the Education Department planted 3.25 crore saplings, Rural Development contributed 2.65 crore, the Forest Department planted 2 crore, and the Pollution Control Board added another 50 lakh.
