Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has signed a tripartite agreement with the Municipal Corporation of Bilaspur and the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority to set up a Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, reports PSU Connnect.
The agreement was signed by Anil Kumar P, Executive Director In-Charge of Biofuels at BPCL. The signing ceremony was attended by Manoj Kumar Pingua, Additional Chief Secretary (Home & Prisons), Government of Chhattisgarh, and Sanjay Agarwal, Collector of Bilaspur.
This will be BPCL’s second CBG plant in the state under the Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) initiative. The plant is designed to process 150 metric tonnes of municipal waste per day and convert it into clean fuel.
The project aligns with India’s broader goals of building a gas-based economy and supports initiatives such as Net Zero emissions, Swachh Bharat (Clean India), and national energy security.
