Biodiesel exports and imports both decline in June: USDA

In June, the U.S. exported 67,622.2 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater, according to data from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service released on August 6. During the same month, biodiesel imports totaled 99,610.1 metric tons.

The June export figure of 67,622.2 metric tons was lower than the 71,012 metric tons exported in May and the 118,069.7 metric tons exported in June of the previous year.

The U.S. exported biodiesel to around eight countries in June. Canada was the leading destination with 61,224.6 metric tons, followed by Peru with 5,985.7 metric tons and Singapore with 245.8 metric tons.

The value of U.S. biodiesel exports in June was $87.76 million, down from $97.16 million in May and $214.59 million in June 2023.

For the first half of the year, total U.S. biodiesel exports amounted to 292,058 metric tons, valued at $402.21 million. This compares to 466,808.3 metric tons valued at $819.26 million during the same period last year.

The 99,610.1 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater imported in June were lower than the 127,104.7 metric tons imported in May and the 139,086 metric tons imported in June of the previous year.

In June, the U.S. imported biodiesel from approximately eight countries, with Canada being the largest supplier at 36,944.5 metric tons, followed by South Korea with 19,651 metric tons and Spain with 19,346 metric tons.
