altM has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) to explore opportunities for value addition and downstream utilisation of lignin generated from advanced bio-ethanol production.
This collaboration reflects a shared intent to unlock greater value from bio-refinery by-products and support more circular and sustainable use of biomass resources, according to the company.
The Numaligarh-based facility has been developed by Assam Bio Ethanol Pvt Ltd (ABEPL), a joint venture promoted by NRL. The plant is designed to process 300,000 tons of bamboo annually to produce approximately 50,000 tons of fuel-grade ethanol, along with valuable co-products such as furfural, acetic acid, bio-coal, and green energy.
altM is an alternate Materials company. Company research, develop and manufacture bio-chemicals and biomaterials to help industry reduce carbon footprint across their value chain. It deconstructs bio-residues to create substitutes for the incumbent unsustainable materials across partner industries in CPG/FMCG, pharma, textiles, industrial chemicals, and energy.
