Adani Power announced on Saturday that it has secured a Letter of Award (LoA) from MP Power Management Company Ltd. (MPPMCL) for the supply of power from a new 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant. The facility will be located in Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh. This project aims to support the state’s growing electricity demand, driven by rapid industrialization and urbanization.
Adani Power will invest Rs 10,500 crore in the construction of the plant and necessary infrastructure. The company was one of the lowest bidders in a highly competitive process, with a final tariff rate of Rs 5.838 per kWh.
The new 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal unit will be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model. The unit is expected to be operational within 54 months from the appointed date.
S.B. Khyalia, CEO of Adani Power, emphasized that India’s rising power demand, driven by economic growth, necessitates continued investments in strong energy infrastructure. “The Anuppur plant will be crucial in providing reliable, affordable, and competitively priced power, ensuring energy security for both India and Madhya Pradesh, while supporting ongoing development in the state,” Khyalia said.
The coal linkage for the project has been allocated under the Government of India’s SHAKTI Policy to the state of Madhya Pradesh. During the construction phase, the project is expected to generate between 6,000 and 7,000 direct and indirect jobs, with 1,000 personnel to be employed once the plant is operational.
Adani Power also plans to formalize the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with the State Discom. This marks the fourth significant power supply contract Adani Power has secured in the past year.
In September 2024, the company, alongside Adani Green Energy, received a Letter of Intent (LoI) for a combined 6,600 MW power supply order from Maharashtra, including 5,000 MW of solar and 1,600 MW of thermal power. In May 2025, Adani Power received a LoA from Uttar Pradesh for a 1,600 MW power supply from a new greenfield plant. Most recently, in August 2025, the company secured another LoA from Bihar for the supply of 2,400 MW from a new plant in the state.
