Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, has departed on an official visit to Brazil to participate in the upcoming BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled for 19th May.
The meeting, themed “Empowering Global South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Global Governance,” will bring together energy ministers from BRICS member countries to deliberate on key issues including energy security, accessibility, affordability, and sustainability.
During the meeting, India will highlight its significant strides in the energy sector over the past decade. These include a 90% increase in power generation capacity, leadership in renewable energy deployment, and advancements in green hydrogen, biofuels, and sustainable energy innovations.
India will also reiterate its commitment to ensuring equitable energy access and accelerating the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
The Minister’s visit reflects India’s proactive engagement with BRICS partners to strengthen cooperation and build a resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking global energy framework.
