The biogas industry has secured investment commitments of more than ₹200 crore during the three-day renewable energy exhibition, RenewX 2025, held at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam from April 23 to 25. The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) announced the development on Sunday, reports The Economic Times.
The event, organised by Informa Markets, featured stakeholders from the bioenergy, solar, wind, energy storage, and energy management sectors. According to the IBA, the ₹200 crore worth of commitments were made through the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) within the biogas sector.
RenewX 2025 focused on new bioenergy technologies, building sustainable partnerships, and encouraging discussions on policy. The exhibition drew strong interest from industry leaders, investors, and policymakers.
“This is the first time we have showcased the biogas sector’s capabilities in Chennai. Our discussions have opened doors for many new partnerships and sparked greater interest in bioenergy solutions, especially in southern India,” said Gaurav Kedia, Chairman of the Indian Biogas Association.
IBA President A R Shukla added, “RenewX 2025 brought together technology, local innovations, and government support. It shows that bioenergy can play a key role in shaping India’s energy future if backed by the right policies and financial support.”
The Indian Biogas Association, established in 2011 and revitalised in 2015, has been leading efforts to promote bioenergy solutions across the country. The association works closely with international organisations like the German Biogas Association to advocate for sustainable waste management and the generation of clean energy through biogas.
