Uttar Pradesh: Plans to setup large biogas plant in Sultanpur district

The initiative to establish a large biogas plant in Padela village, Sultanpur district, is gaining momentum. Responding to the demand from the Department of Additional Sources of Energy, the administration has earmarked 14 hectares of land. Preparation is underway to submit the proposal to the government, reported Amar Ujala.

Given the shortage of electricity, the Department of Additional Energy Sources in the district has devised plans to set up a biogas plant. The aim is to produce electricity illuminating rural homes. Officials indicate that after generating electricity, the department will distribute it to consumers through the Energy Department. This initiative could provide electricity to thousands of people.

In a scenario of increased production, the electricity could be sold to another district’s power distribution corporation. To establish a large plant in the district, the Department of Additional Sources of Energy had previously requested the administration for free land. Upon receiving government approval for the proposal, around 14 hectares of land in Padela have been earmarked by the administration. The proposal has been drafted and sent to the Sultanpur District Administration by SDM Kadipur. Chief Revenue Officer Devendra Singh mentioned that preparations are underway to promptly submit the proposal. Once the proposal is approved, the land will be made available to the Department of Additional Sources of Energy.
